Hotel outdoor furniture was a common topic at the 58th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF Shanghai), held September 5–8, 2026, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hongqiao. Kingmake showed the Cenxi Collection and Orbit daybed with canopy at Booth 1.1A50. Many visitors carried floor plans for hotel courtyards, rooftop bars and resort pool decks. A Show With Space for Outdoor Living

CIFF Shanghai has run since 1998. This year it took place in Hongqiao and Pudong. The Guangdong Outdoor Furniture Association (GOFA), founded in January 2014, worked with the fair organizers on a Garden Life Experience Center. It used real plants and courtyard layouts to show terraces and gardens. It also served as a rest and meeting area for overseas buyers, with pieces from several member companies on display.

Who Stopped at Our Booth

Most visitors at Booth 1.1A50 said they were purchasing managers or project consultants. They were working on resort renovations, boutique hotel openings and beach clubs. Fewer asked about single home patio sets. Several other exhibitors also added project sections next to their retail displays.

This matters because a hotel buys in large batches when it opens or renovates. It needs the same look across dozens of chairs, and the furniture sits in sun, rain and salt air every day. So hotel buyers ask about materials and build quality first, and price second.

Why Hotels Look Closely at Seat Materials

One complaint came up again and again: woven furniture with a soft fabric backing wears out fast in daily hotel use. A home patio set may be used a few hours a week. A resort pool chair is sat on, moved and rained on every day.

Under that load, three problems appear:

• Backing straps can stretch.

• Foam can hold water.

• Cushions that never fully dry can grow mold.

What Is Aluminum Mesh?

Aluminum mesh is a thin woven aluminum sheet used for the seat and backrest, in place of fabric straps or rattan strips. Because it is metal, water passes straight through it and it dries quickly in open air. It does not stretch under body weight the way a strap can. It also has no absorbent material, so moisture has nowhere to sit. For an aluminum outdoor sofa or lounger, this is one of the simplest fixes for daily wear.

We designed the Cenxi Collection for hotel conditions, not home patio use. Every piece shares the same powder-coated aluminum frame, aluminum mesh seating and teak inserts on the arms.

Cenxi Sofa Set

The outdoor sofa set has a warm beige aluminum frame. The seat base and backrest are aluminum mesh, so both dry fast after rain and do not need to be carried indoors during a storm. Solid teak pieces are set into the armrests. Waterproof cushions in a light neutral fabric sit on top. The 3-seater, single armchairs and side table can be arranged in different layouts to suit a pool deck or a lounge corner.

Cenxi Dining Set

The dining set follows the same build. The chairs have aluminum mesh seats and backs with a teak insert in each armrest. The table has a white marble-effect top on an aluminum frame, with thin teak trim along the edge. The full set seats six, which fits a typical poolside dining order.

Cenxi Sun Lounger

The sun lounger has an aluminum mesh lying surface that supports body weight evenly. Fabric slings can sag in the middle after repeated use. A waterproof cushion sits on top. The backrest adjusts to several angles, and small wheels on the front legs let housekeeping staff move it across the deck without lifting the whole frame.

Why Teak Is Used as an Insert

Armrests get more sun than any other part of a chair, because they sit at hand height and are rarely shaded. Over a few years, full teak armrests can crack or fade unevenly. In a hotel, guests sit at many matching chairs side by side, so uneven color is easy to notice. A smaller teak insert set into an aluminum arm limits how much wood is exposed, while keeping the warm feel under a guest's hands.

How the Frame Is Built

Several buyers asked about joints, since weak welds are a common failure point in outdoor aluminum furniture after a year or two. Cenxi frame parts are laser cut, so each part has the same size and shape before assembly. The frame is then fully welded, and the weld points are ground and finished so joints sit flush with the metal around them. A frame built this way carries weight along its whole welded shape. Screws and clips, by comparison, are usually the first parts to loosen under repeated outdoor use.

Round Daybed: A Quiet Corner for Hotel Pool Decks

Alongside the Cenxi Collection, we showed a round daybed with rotatable canopy in Orbit Collection made for a different part of a hotel: the quiet corner, not the main seating group.

The inner frame is powder-coated aluminum, the same rust-resistant base used across the Cenxi line. The outer body is hand-woven PE rattan in off-white, with a tight vertical weave. PE rattan is a synthetic material, so it does not crack or fade the way natural cane can after long sun exposure.

The curved woven back closes one side of the seat and creates a semi-private nook. A round cushion and five throw pillows sit inside the shell, all in waterproof outdoor fabric with removable covers. Above the seat, a canopy turns a full 360 degrees.

That canopy solves a daily problem. Sun angles change every hour, and staff cannot move a whole daybed each time the shade shifts. With a rotating canopy, a guest can adjust the shade without moving the piece. Resort buyers at the show showed most interest in it for one or two quiet corners of a pool deck.

What We Look For When We Walk a Furniture Show

Our team looks at more than shape. We check tube size, bending, weld positions, cushion support, packing volume and whether a show sample can be repeated across thousands of units. These are the points we take back to the factory:

• Comfort starts with the frame. Seat height, seat depth and back angle matter more than cushion thickness. If the frame shape is wrong, a thicker cushion adds cost without fixing the problem.

• Cost shows in the details. Cleaner bends, neater welds and better finishing usually mean more time and material went into the product.

• A show piece is not always a bulk product. A sculptural chair may need extra bending and welding, and it may not stack or knock down. That affects packing volume and container loading.

• Trends need a market. Warm colors such as moss green, terracotta and sand, and softer, indoor-style seating are spreading in outdoor furniture. A resort and a chain retailer should still use the same trend in different ways.

• Look-alike products compete on price. When two frames differ only in color or cushion, buyers compare price alone. Real differences in shape, materials and build give buyers something else to compare.
